2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following personal data when you use our site:

  • Account data: If you create an account, we collect your name and email address via Manus OAuth authentication.
  • Usage data: We collect anonymised analytics data (page views, session duration, referral source) via our analytics provider. This data does not identify you personally.
  • Submission data: If you submit an event or business listing, we collect the information you provide in the submission form.
  • Payment data: If you purchase a promoted listing, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details. We retain a record of the transaction (amount, date, Stripe payment ID) for accounting purposes.
  • Cookies: We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Provide and improve the GlasgowThings service
  • Process event and business submissions
  • Process payments for promoted listings
  • Send transactional emails (submission confirmations, account notices)
  • Analyse site usage to improve content and user experience

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data under the following legal bases (UK GDPR):

  • Contract: Processing necessary to provide the service you have requested (account management, payment processing).
  • Legitimate interests: Anonymised analytics to improve the site.
  • Legal obligation: Retaining transaction records for accounting and tax purposes.

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes (typically 7 years for financial records). Anonymised analytics data is retained indefinitely.

  • Ticketmaster / Skiddle: Event data APIs. We receive event data from these platforms; we do not share your data with them.
  • Railway: Hosting infrastructure. Your data is stored on servers in the EU/UK.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Object to processing of your personal data
  • Request restriction of processing

8. Cookies

We use a single session cookie (app_session_id) to keep you logged in. This cookie is essential for the service and cannot be disabled if you wish to use your account. It expires when you log out or after 30 days of inactivity. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking cookies.
